Resumen
The aim of this study was to analyze whether Primary Health Care (PHC) nurses in municipalities in the state of Pernambuco (PE) carry out actions provided for in protocols on Women's Health. This is an excerpt from the qualitative research ''Nursing Practices in the Context of PHC: a national mixed-methods study'', approved by the CEP of the FS/UnB, under CAAE number: 20814619.2.0000.0030. The study focused on the state of Pernambuco and the theme of women's health, with 25 PHC nurses from the municipalities of Cabrobó and Recife taking part. Narratives pertinent to the topic were used to analyze the content in depth, as described by Bardin, and three categories were then listed to demonstrate the results and compare the findings with actions provided for in pertinent protocols and manuals. The results show that the most widely used protocols are those of the Ministry of Health, while there was little mention of local protocols. With regard to care, it was found that groups for women in the climacteric and puberty periods are not part of the routine, nor is the School Health Program. Finally, 75% of the nurses identified women's health as their area of greatest autonomy. It is clear that the use of protocols is essential to guide nurses' practice in women's health care, as it guarantees autonomy and standardization of activities.
