Abstract

Objective: To identify scientific evidence of strategies for promoting patient safety in Primary Health Care. Method: This is a scoping review conducted between February and September 2023, using the databases Pubmed, Scielo, Virtual Health Library, and Google Scholar. Original and review articles, guidelines, manuals, and protocols were included if they addressed strategies for promoting patient safety in the context of primary health care, in English, Portuguese, and Spanish, and published between 2015 and 2022. Results: 50 articles were identified, 24% published in 2021, with 88% in the English language, predominantly qualitative method articles. A synthetic presentation of the main characteristics of the analyzed studies and patient safety promotion strategies was chosen. Divided into thematic domains: Safe care, Leadership and management, Safe communication, Culture and safety, and Safe environment. Conclusion/Implications for practice: The identified strategies demonstrate the scientific community's effort to minimize incidents and prevent potential adverse events, as a way to ensure patient safety.
